The arabian sea

Let us begin with two islands called Male Island and Famele island. Male Island lies in the sea some 500 miles south of Kech - Makram. The inhabitants are baptized christians, observing the rule and customs of the Old Testament. For when a man´s wife is pregnant he does not touch her again till she has given birth. After this he continues to abstain for another forty days. Then he touches her again as he will. But I assure you that in this island the men do not live whit theirs wives or any other women; but all the women live on the other island, wich is called Femele Island. You must now that the men of Male Island go over to Famele Island, and stay there for tree months, that is March, April, and May. For these three months the men stay in the other island with their wives and take their plesure with them. After this they return to their own island and get on whit their business. I must tell you that in Male Island is found ambergris of fine quality. The inhabitants lives on rice, milk, and meat. They are very good fisher of them, so that they have plenty to eat all the year round and also sell them to others. They have not lord exept a bishop...
